Meri Brown is speaking her truth.
Months after splitting from her longtime husband Kody Brown, the Sister Wives alum is opening up about her new, rumored romance… If you haven’t heard, fans of the 52-year-old have been trying to figure out if a new, female friend the mother of one has recently been posting on her social media is purely platonic, or if there’s a bit of a romantic spark between the two. Now, after weeks of guess work, Meri is ready to address the rumors!
During a Friday Instagram Live, which she later uploaded to her page, the reality star played a game of 20 questions, which culminated in one fan asking her to name “one thing you wish people knew or understood about you.” Meri immediately became sheepish, with her friend Jenn Sullivan, who was on the live with her, quickly reassuring her:
“You are entitled to share or keep your life however you want.”

Meri responded:
“Part of me wants to say it and part of me wants to let people wonder.”
However, she decided to just go for it, and address the romance rumors:
“I’ve got people really wondering what I may or may not want to say. I’m just gonna do it. I am… Straight”
Well there you have it, folks. She continued:
“I made an announcement. Now that you all know. You heard it from my mouth. I’m coming out as being straight.”
It’s not too often that you hear of someone “coming out as being straight,” but given the rumors, we’re not surprised she felt the need to clear things up. She went on to call out the “tabloids” for their speculation, adding:
“It does not matter who I take a picture with and post it. I’m either dating this guy or dating this girl because people can’t seem to think I can be friends, completely platonic friends, with females or males.”

The rumors were largely fueled by the fact that back in 2015, Meri had an emotional affair with a catfish she believed to be a man online, who later revealed themselves as a woman. Meri addressed the scandal at the time:
“During an emotional and vulnerable time earlier this year, I began speaking with someone online who turned out to be not who they said they were. I never met this person and I regret being drawn into this situation, but I hope because of it I can help others who find themselves in similar circumstances.”
Either way, we just hope Meri gets to lead a happy and fulfilling life! Watch her full live (below):
