Mykki Blanco has announced a new six-song EP. Postcards From Italia arrives September 22 via Transgressive. Ahead of the record, Blanco has dropped a video for closing track “Holidays in the Sun,” which marks their first song of 2023. Give it a listen to below.
Postcards From Italia was produced alongside FaltyDL, and dabbles in a style that Blanco, in press materials, calls their “Italian cowboy era.” They added, “‘Holidays in the Sun’ was created funnily enough in a basement in Portugal on Christmas Eve.” Blanco wrote the track with ZamZam (who provided additional vocals on the single), and it was produced by William Eaves of Somerset.
“The song is a feel good summer anthem about lazy summer days swimming in the sea, hopping from one music festival to the next, feeling good about life and living la dolce vita soaking up the sun,” Blanco said. “The song is a summer rave bop with nods to ’90s euro dance and acid house stretching itself, hitting every corner of the world from the beaches of Ibiza and Naples to warehouses parties in London and Berlin. Enjoy!”
Blanco released the LP Stay Close to Music last year. They will perform at Pitchfork Music Festival Berlin this November. Find tickets here.
