Guerlain unveils a new fragrance
“Picture kilometers of orange tree fields,” says perfumer Delphine Jelk over a video call. “The sky is blue, the sun is shining, and there’s a freshness in the air.” Jelk is describing the inspiration behind her latest creation, Guerlain’s Neroli Plein Sud. “One second, let me get something.” She reemerges on-screen with a travel diary from her time in Morocco. The notebook is filled with dried plants, sketches, and fabric swatches that inspired the luxe new fragrance. “I went to fashion design school before getting into perfumery, so I design fragrances exactly like I’d design clothes, starting with mood boards filled with colors, words, and pictures.
Néroli Plein Sud is born out of a collaboration with Antone de Saint Exupéry Youth Foundation, in honour of the beloved author of The Little Prince and Southern Mail (the latter which directly inspired the fragrance). To bring the latest addition to Guerlain’s L’Art & La Matière collection to life, Jelk combined neroli—an essential oil produced from the blossom of an orange tree–with turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon. At once crisp, spicy, and warm, she describes the scent as a “fresh breeze blowing over the hot sand of the Sahara [desert].”
Sulwhasoo’s S Line skincare collection has arrived
Fusing ancient knowledge with modern opulence, Sulwhasoo’s S Line is here to shake up the skincare space. Sought after for its youth-enhancing capabilities, the star Gingseng Berry SR ingredient (comprised of ginsenomics, a bioflavonoid and ginseng berry) is featured throughout the range.
Housed in a traditional Korean moon jar that doubles as a decorative statement piece, our favourite launch from the line is The Ultimate S Cream–which strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
M.A.C Cosmetics’ iconic matte lipsticks just got a makeover
This week, M.A.C Cosmetics upped the ante on its iconic OG matte lipsticks and revealed a reformulated version of their already beloved mattes, called the MACximal Silky Matte Lipsticks.
Adhering to a “maxed out to give lips more” mantra, these matte-meets-silk lipsticks boast more colour, comfort, and longevity than ever before. With over 30 shades—including cult classics like “Ruby Woo” and “Velvet Teddy—to play with, M.A.C is inspiring us to push our creativity to the max when it comes to makeup.
Olehenriksen adds three new shades to its Pout Preserve collection
