A song empowering people that it’s ok to be sad is the theme of Baker’s “State of Mind.” With intense clarity her message speaks. She touches people on a human level and lets us believe that light will often pierce the darkness when we least expect it. Not all gifts come tied in ribbons. Some come to us unlabeled and as a surprise we can embrace them, as we can embrace this song. Pretty much I believe that she also tells us not to sabotage ourselves as there are enough people out there that will do that for us.
