The much-anticipated sixth installment in the “Final Destination” series, aptly titled “Final Destination: Bloodlines”, is officially in production, aiming to scare and thrill audiences worldwide in 2025. This release is not just any addition to the franchise; it marks a significant milestone, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original film that introduced us to the inescapable grip of Death’s design. What’s more exhilarating is the announcement that fans will experience the chills and thrills on the grand scale of IMAX screens, promising an immersive horror experience like never before.
Craig Perry, the seasoned producer behind the franchise’s enduring success, took to social media to share the exciting news, reflecting on the journey and the collective effort to bring this project to life. Perry’s message encapsulates the anticipation and gratitude surrounding this project: “After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing. I’m wholly grateful for the opportunity, and humbly appreciate the sublimely talented team that has worked so hard to bring this to life. See you next year!”
Adding a touch of humor and acknowledgment of the franchise’s legacy, Perry also addressed the film’s title, which shares a “Bloodlines” subtitle with other notable films, stating, “PS: I know, I know – Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years, and we’re keeping it… for now.”
“Final Destination: Bloodlines” has the following synopsis According to entertainment industry scooper Daniel Richtman: Just as she’s about to leave home for college, 18 year old STEFANI, who’s been having horrific nightmares about dying in a tower accident in the 1960s, discovers that her dream is actually a premonition that happened to her grandmother, Esther, who thwarted death fifty years ago but is now running out of time. Stefani learns that though her grandmother thwarted Death (until she died in her 80s), and Death has been going after the would-have-been victims of that long-ago catastrophe, killing them off and then going after their children. Stefani and her family realize that their bloodline isn’t safe from Death, who will take them violently and gruesomely, in order, unless someone like Stefani figures out a way to stop it.
The film boasts a creative powerhouse with Jon Watts (known for his work on the “Spider-Man” trilogy) producing alongside Perry, Dianne McGunigle, and Sheila Hanahan Taylor. Watts also contributed the initial treatment, which was developed into a screenplay by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick. Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, recognized for their work on “Freaks” and the live-action “Kim Possible” movie, are steering this thrilling new chapter.
With the return of Tony Todd as the iconic mortician Bludworth, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” is shaping up to be a monumental addition to the horror genre. As production continues, fans eagerly await the next installment, ready to embrace the terror and suspense that has defined the franchise for a quarter of a century. See you in 2025, if you dare to face Death’s design once more.
