Paul Raci in Eccentric Comedy ‘The Secret Art of Human Flight’ Trailer

“How are you so sure this is gonna work?” Level 33 Ent. has revealed the official trailer for a peculiar indie comedy called The Secret Art of Human Flight, the newest film directed by filmmaker H.P. Mendoza. This initially premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival last year, screening at many fests. The film is a magical realist comedy-drama about a New England widower (starring / produced by Grant Rosenmeyer) who attempts to overcome his grief by embarking on an absurd but personal journey with an eccentric guru who claims to have unlocked the power to fly. He stumbles upon a self-help book titled “The Secret Art of Human Flight” written by an enigmatic guru named “Mealworm” – who also shows up at his door when he orders the book. This also stars Paul Raci, Lucy DeVito, Nican Robinson, Rosa Arredondo, Reina Hardesty, Maggie Grace, Sendhil Ramamurthy. This is a very nice trailer, eschewing the usual generic editing style for something more creative and endearing. I’m definitely curious, this trailer got my attention.

After the death of his wife, Ben Grady (Grant Rosenmeyer) stumbles upon a self-help book by an enigmatic guru named “Mealworm” (Paul Raci), who claims to have harnessed the power to fly. The book arrives… and so does Mealworm, forcing Ben to navigate his family life, accusations of foul play, and the bizarre rituals laid before him in the hopes of healing and, just maybe, achieving flight. The Secret Art of Human Flight is directed by American indie writer / composer / filmmaker H.P. Mendoza, director of the films I Am a Ghost, Bitter Melon, Attack Decay Release, and a few other doc films and short films previously. The screenplay is written by Jesse Orenshein. Produced by Tina Carbone, Jonathan Lim, Grant Rosenmeyer, and Benjamin Wiessner. This initially premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival last year. Level 33 Ent. will debut The Secret Art of Human Flight in select US theaters starting on July 5th, 2024. Anyone intrigued?
