“Watch me. I’ll keep going.” HBO has revealed an official trailer for Here to Climb, a documentary film profiling the rise of professional climber Sasha DiGiulian. This HBO Original Documentary from Red Bull Media House following professional climber Sasha DiGiulian as she faces obstacles in her ascent to the top and redefines success on her own terms. The film is made by two acclaimed filmmakers who also made the docs Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, Knuckleball!, In My Father’s House, Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing, Reversing Roe, and My So-Called High School Rank before. Here to Climb is a thrilling portrait of a record-breaking female athlete who relentlessly pushes her boundaries. As Sasha takes on summit after summit, inspired and mentored by female climbing icon Lynn Hill, she faces a variety of hurdles. With appearances from Cedar Wright, Alex Honnold, Lynn Hill, Angela VanWiemeersch & Vian Charbonneau; cinematographer Pablo Durana; plus Sasha’s mother Andrea DiGiulian & Sasha’s husband Erik Osterholm. The film follows professional climber Sasha DiGiulian rising from child prodigy to a champion sport climber, as she ultimately makes her mark by taking her talents to the biggest walls on the planet with a series of bold, first female ascents. Confronting both physical & mental obstacles head on, Sasha charts her own course in a sport where a path didn’t exist, her passion becoming a viable profession. With shots that places the viewer on some of the most daunting and risky walls in the world, Here to Climb details the unparalleled drive and determination needed to reach the top. As Sasha takes on summit after summit, inspired and mentored by female climbing icon Lynn Hill, she faces a variety of hurdles, including attacks on her public image and motivations in climbing, sometimes at the expense of safety, cyberbullying over her bodyweight, and a possible career ending injury that led to her having 5 serious surgeries in one year.
Here to Climb is co-directed by acclaimed doc filmmakers Ricki Stern & Anne Sundberg, both of many, many other documentary films including The Trials of Darryl Hunt, The Devil Came on Horseback, The End of America, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, Burma Soldier, Knuckleball!, Let Them Wear Towels, In My Father’s House, Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing, Reversing Roe, and My So-Called High School Rank, and My So-Called High School Rank previously.
