Wacky Puppet Comedy ‘The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe’ Trailer

“Remember… the future of surfing is depending on us.” Blue Fox Ent. has revealed an official trailer for a wacky puppet comedy called The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe. Perhaps like me, you may read that title and think oh this is just another movie about surfer bros being cool and funny. Well, it is that, but it’s not that. Though it is about a bunch of surfer bros. The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe is a raunchy Team America-esque stop-motion puppet + live action Australian comedy, narrated by Luke Hemsworth, and starring some of the world’s best surfers voicing lifelike figurines of themselves, including Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Mason Ho, Griffin Colapinto, Jack Freestone, Craig Anderson and Matt Wilkinson. Ten years from now a virus more deadly and more contagious than anything we’ve ever seen decimates all the world’s living creatures. A doctor invents a new vaccine – however, the vaccine completely erases all memory of surfing from the human mind. With no idea what they’re supposed to be doing with their lives the world’s best surfers aimlessly wander off into what’s left of society. Surfing is doomed. Can a bunch of forgotten outcasts work together to create the Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe triggering the populations memories of mondo-tubes, full-rail carves and giant rotating airs? Only one way to find out. 🏄

In 2034, a deadly virus has wiped out a lot of the global population. In the rush to save humanity, Dr John Fig fast-tracks an experimental vaccine that becomes mandatory in every country around the world. The vaccine works, however, the injection also instantly erases the ability to surf and any memory of surfing altogether… With no idea what they’re now supposed to be doing with their lives, the world’s best surfers aimlessly wander off into what’s left of society. Now it’s up to the Surf God Hughie to pull together a team of former greats who dominated the riding of ocean waves, in a last ditch effort to save surfing. Can this bunch of forgotten outcasts work together to create the Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe, triggering the population’s memories of mondo-tubes, full-rail carves and giant rotating airs? Or are we destined to become a pack of horrendously strook land-lubbing kooks? The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe is co-directed by two indie filmmakers Vaughan Blakey & Nick Pollet, making their first feature film after directing the “Rip Curl’s The Search” series previously. The screenplay is written by Nick Pollet. Produced by Peter Flannery, Scott Martin, Blake Northfield, Jack Sheehan, Michael Thomas Slifkin. Blue Fox Ent. will debut The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe in Super Radical US theaters starting August 16th, 2024.
