“Who exactly is this man?” Peacock has unveiled a first look teaser trailer for an upcoming assassin thriller series titled The Day of the Jackal, yes indeed based on the book (and British movie) of the same name. The 1973 movie is also called The Day of the Jackal, starring Edward Fox, and it’s adapted from the book by Frederick Forsyth. There’s a 1997 Hollywood movie called The Jackal also about an assassin, though it’s not an exact adaptation. The new series is a bold, contemporary re-imagining of the beloved and respected novel and film. While remaining true to the DNA of the original, this contemporary drama will delve deeper into the life of the chameleon like “anti-hero” at the heart of the story, in a high octane, cinematic, globetrotting “cat & mouse” thriller, set amidst the turbulent geo-political landscape of our time. Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne stars in this series as “the Jackal”, with Lashana Lynch as Bianca, Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, and Eleanor Matsuura. This is a legit teaser – some seriously slick shots in it, doesn’t look like a simple TV show at all. That clean building rappelling shot impressed me the most – hoping there’s more than a few spy scenes in it.
Here’s the first look teaser trailer for Peacock’s series The Day of the Jackal, direct from YouTube:

The Day of the Jackal is a series created and written and showrun by Irish screenwriter Ronan Bennett (The Break, Face, Fields of Gold, The Hamburg Cell, Public Enemies; and series “Rebel Heart”, “10 Days to War”, “Hidden”, “Gunpowder”, “Top Boy”).
