“It’ll be harder than anything we’ve faced before…” Disney has revealed a second official trailer for their upcoming sequel Moana 2 from Disney Animation. It’s a follow-up the full trailer that debuted during D23 last month. The original Moana musical from Disney Animation Studios opened in late 2016 and became a beloved global hit, ending up as a favorite of many young viewers everywhere. This sequel is the first feature made at Disney’s Vancouver studio. Ready to launch in theaters in November just in time for Thanksgiving. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana journeys to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. What will she find out there? Auli’i Cravalho returns as the voice of Moana, with Dwayne Johnson back as Maui and Alan Tudyk as Hei Hei, plus Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, and Rose Matafeo. This is a short 60-second trailer that continues to build up the sequel hype without showing any new footage that wasn’t already included in in the previous trailer. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana (voiced by Aulixʻi Cravalho) journeys to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she has ever faced. Disney’s Moana 2 is written and directed by animation filmmaker Dave Derrick (aka David G. Derrick Jr.), a storyboard artist making his feature directorial debut, after last working as Head of Story on Disney’s Strange World movie and a storyboard artist on Raya and the Last Dragon. It’s also co-directed by Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller. The screenplay is written by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller. With music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow & Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i, and Grammy winner Mark Mancina. It’s produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, executive produced by Jennifer Lee. Made by Disney Animation Studios – it is the first feature film to be made at their Vancouver studio.
