There are some changes happening on your favorite daytime soaps. Recent reports point to shakeups happening behind the scenes at both Bold & Beautiful and Young & Restless. B&B supervising producer Edward J. Scott is making his way back to Y&R after 14 years. Here is what we know about his return.
Edward J. Scott’s Career In The Soap World
After 14 years, Edward J. Scott will be making his way back “home” to Young & Restless. Longtime fans know that Edward kickstarted his career at Y&R. In 1976, he began as an associate producer on the soap. Eventually, he climbed up to serve as executive producer on the beloved show.
Additionally, Edward met his wife at Y&R. He and Melody Thomas Scott, who plays Nikki on the soap, have been married for almost 40 years.
His career in the soap world has won Edward J. Scott some recognition in Hollywood. He has won numerous Emmy awards over the years for having his hand in Young & Restless and Bold & Beautiful. Not to mention, he also served as the co-executive producer on Days of Our Lives from 2007 to 2008.
With such an extensive background in some of television’s most popular soap operas, there is no wonder why he was nominated (and won) a Lifetime Achievement Award this year alongside his wife, Melody. Edward received the award in June at the Daytime Emmys.
“Daytime TV is hard work,” Melody Thomas Scott said at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmys. “I salute all of you here tonight for your contributions to our industry. Edward and I are eager to do our part to carry on the proud tradition of the great American soap opera.”
For his part, Michael Fairman TV chatted with Edward following the awards ceremony. During their conversation, Edward said that he was indebted to Bill and Lee Phillip Bell. The Bells are co-creators of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. He acknowledged that without them he wouldn’t have led the life he has today.
What Will He Be Doing At Young & Restless?
So, what can you expect from Edward J. Scott’s return to Y&R? For the last 14 years, he’s been serving as the supervising producer on Bold & Beautiful, another soap fan favorite.
Upon his return, he will be serving as senior producer on Young & Restless. He will work closely with executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith.
Right now, there isn’t any information on when Edward will be making his way back to Y&R. However, there is no doubt that fans will be excited to have one of the original crew members behind the scenes once again.
