Yes, we know that missing Chicago Fire’s last high was not a high point.
Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 10, titled “Chaos Theory,” was pushed forward to allow President Joe Biden to say his goodbyes to the nation.
The last thing we wanted was a firehouse dousing our excitement, but with Chicago Fire, we’re used to it.
It was a shame the series was already in encore mode, despite only returning after a holiday hiatus last week, but there’s plenty to look forward to when fresh episodes hit the air later this month.
So, what can we expect on Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 10? A whole lot of Severide, and we’re okay with that.
Severide Has A Difficult Task
Taylor Kinney’s presence has been a bit all over the place in recent years, but he had a pivotal part in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 9 and will in the next episode, as well.
“Severide is forced to investigate one of his own squad members,” NBC teases of the installment, which will see Severide in quite the predicament.
He’s built a rapport with his squad members, but his leadership abilities will be tested because he’ll have to disregard what he knows about them on a personal level.
It’s quite the dilemma and will probably become another opportunity for Taylor to show off his acting chops.
Since we know that he’s already received paperwork asking him to revisit the fire in which Flaco perished during Chicago Fire Season 1, that’s likely the direction this story is taking.
It’s not going to be easy for Severide to investigate Cruz, especially since he and those close to him have had so many similar situations where they should have asked for help and didn’t.
The Chicago Fire Season 13 midseason premiere was all about the aftermath of Cruz’s past coming back to haunt him in the form of Flaco’s cousin.
It sent Cruz into a tailspin, and by the end of the hour, Flaco’s cousin was meeting him at heaven’s gate.
The worst part of this story is that Cruz could and should have fessed up to his past mistake to spare him what he’s done now. Instead, he hesitated, and the tragedy was already in motion by the time he came to his senses.
Undoubtedly, there will be ripple effects for Cruz and everyone around him throughout the rest of the season.
The only solace we can take so far is that Cruz is still alive because it sure doesn’t look like things are going to get any better for him.
The photos are ominous, with Cruz shadowed in darkness when a stern-faced Chief Pascal enters the room.
Of course, Pascal’s go to-look is stern, and we won’t be surprised if this is a tease and the real meat of the story comes later.
It’s pretty rare when the show releases anything that will give away the true intent of the episode, so we’re expecting Cruz to hold onto his latest error in judgment for a while longer.
What’s the point of such a dramatic and pivotal mistake if he doesn’t allow it to chew away at his soul, putting those he holds dearest at risk?
And in case you missed it, TV Fanatic had the pleasure of talking to Joe Minoso about the explosive storyline, and you can read all about it here.
Elsewhere, the team investigates a “crisis at a community center.” The network purposefully keeps us in the dark about that one, but it will probably amount to a by-the-numbers effort to save lives.
That’s how the show goes these days, and we always expect something more significant to happen than we get, so it’s probably best to temper expectations with this one.
Meanwhile, Kidd “helps a teacher going through a post-incident spin-out.”
Yes, Kidd is back from her trip and reunited with Severide and the team. We’re ready to see their relationship back on the front burner.
We need some burning romance to go with our burning embers, and heaven knows Violet and Carver aren’t working toward adding any excitement for yearning hearts!
Of course, there are plenty more stories in play, but from what we can tell, these will be the important points that we expect will play out on the next episode.
The One Chicago 2025 Crossover May Be Postponed
The delay for the new episode could mean that the upcoming three-show crossover could be at risk of a delay.
There’s no confirmation whether an episode was initially slated to air next week, but if there was, the highly-anticipated event will be shunned to sometime in February.
It’s been a minute since all three shows crossed paths, but there’s always reason to be excited when it does happen.
A lot has changed on Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD since the last three-part event, and we can’t wait to see what happens.
