Eagles have donated $2.5million (£2.1million) to FireAid, the upcoming benefit concert for the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.
The charity event was first announced earlier this month and will take place on January 30 at the city’s Intuit Dome and KIA Forum. Live Nation, AEG and veteran music executive Irving Azoff have joined forces to organise the shows.
Earlier this week the first wave of names were confirmed for the shows, including Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Rod Stewart, Katy Perry, Joni Mitchell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Gracie Abrams and Green Day, with more acts due to be announced in the coming days. One of the other notable names added to the bill is a reforming No Doubt, who will play their first show together since their well-received reunion shows at Coachella 2025, which themselves were their first shows since 2015.

Now, Eagles, who formed in Los Angeles in 1971, have thrown their weight behind FireAid by donating a huge $2.5million to the cause. The generous sum matches that given by Beyoncé‘s foundation to relief efforts following the fires, and comes in addition to the $500,000 donated by another Los Angeles music institution, Metallica. An additional $1million donation has also come in from The Weeknd.
Two of the devastating fires continue to burn in the city, having started on January 7. To date, a total of 27 people have lost their lives, while 200,000 have been forced to evacuate their homes and more than 12,000 structures have been damaged.
Members of the LA music community have also spoken to NME about being hit hard, with a number of venues, studios and artists being affected by the blaze.
On Thursday (January 16), legendary director David Lynch died after it was reported his health took a turn for the worse after he was “forced to relocate from his house” on Sunset Boulevard due to the fires.
Jamie Lee Curtis has donated $1million to relief efforts, after talks with California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Charli XCX urged brands who send her clothing to instead donate it to those affected by the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.
Earlier this week, Guitar Center also announced a new program that will help musicians affected by the fires to replace their gear. A one-time grant will run until February 28, allowing musicians and music programs to replace destroyed instruments or equipment.
