Look away, romance novel fans. Just… look away.
According to a brand-new (and very shocking!) report published by Deuxmoi on Wednesday, novelist Colleen Hoover is allegedly retiring from writing amid all the endless drama that’s flown out of production of the It Ends With Us movie.
Of course, Colleen recently deactivated her Instagram account after initially showing support for actress Blake Lively amid her brutal feud with actor and IEWU director Justin Baldoni. But now, per that outlet, sources are saying the bestselling author hasn’t just taken a step back from social media. She’s also supposedly taken a step back from writing! A PERMANENT step back!!

According to that outlet, sources close to Hoover claim she has retired altogether from writing. Uh, WHAT?! As in, the author of everything uber-popular from It Ends With Us to Verity and Ugly Love isn’t going to write any longer???
Before you can share your skepticism about that Deuxmoi shocker (which we totally get, BTW), let’s add this: the source ALSO claims Colleen has let go of her entire team!

It’s one thing to claim Hoover is retiring — and not just, like, taking an extended break after doing a ton of writing for a long time. But it’s another thing for her to (allegedly) let go of her support staff! If that part is true, it would seem to signal a truly seismic shift in the world of bestselling books. Dayum!!

Now, there are other fan rumblings out there which theorize she isn’t retiring at all — but instead planning to write more under a totally different pen name. Hmmm. Maybe!! But if the source’s claim about Hoover letting go of her staff is true, the pen name thing probably doesn’t hold water, ya know?!
This report sure is a head scratcher. Colleen could indeed be throwing in the towel. Or the whole thing could be bull s**t! One thing is for certain: it sounds like we’re not the only ones absolutely exhausted by the interminable It Ends With Us drama.
