Netflix broke its silence on its latest mystery K-drama, just weeks ahead of its global debut. The platform revealed a chilling first teaser and confirmed the release date for The Art of Sarah, the highly anticipated thriller.
The Art of Sarah gets first teaser with Netflix release date
Netflix will premiere its original thriller series The Art of Sarah globally on February 13. Shin Hye Sun and Lee Jun Hyuk lead the cast, reuniting on screen for the first time in eight years since Stranger. Director Kim Jin Min, known for Extracurricular and My Name, helms the project.
The psychological mystery follows Sarah Kim, a woman determined to become something priceless despite building her life on lies, and detective Moo Kyung, who investigates her hidden desires and mysterious past. The narrative explores themes of identity, deception, and obsession.
Netflix released the first teaser poster and trailer on January 13. The poster depicts a bloodied woman’s body with her face concealed by a designer handbag, while detective Park Moo Kyung sits beside her. A blurred silhouette of Sarah Kim and a densely written notebook in the background suggest a deeper link between the two characters.
The trailer intensifies the mystery by presenting multiple versions of Sarah Kim. Moo Kyung launches his investigation after discovering a severely injured body in a sewer. A tattoo on the victim’s ankle leads him to identify her as Sarah Kim, but he soon uncovers a disturbing truth: “There are no records of a Sarah Kim anywhere.”
Footage of Sarah in luxury settings contrasts with scenes of her struggling in worn clothes, working tirelessly and eating leftovers. Her shifting identity creates confusion over what is real. In one scene, Sarah breaks down, saying, “Something’s gone wrong,” further blurring truth and fabrication.
The teaser ends with a line from Sarah: “If you can’t tell the fake from the real, is it really fake?” The Art of Sarah premieres exclusively on Netflix on February 13.
