The disease causes muscle stiffness and spasms, which interfere with mobility, speaking, and other body functions. The singer canceled her tour to seek treatment. Celine Dion faces the possibility of forced retirement amid the battle with the neurological disorder. But her biggest heartbreak came in 2016. Her husband of over twenty years passed away in 2016 after a battle with throat cancer.
The singer, who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, met René Angélil when he became her manager when she was just 12 years old. Their relationship turned romantic years later, and they married in 1994. The couple has three sons: René-Charles Angélil (born 2001) and twins Nelson and Eddy Angélil (born 2010.)
Celine Dion took to Instagram to honor her husband on the tenth anniversary of his heartbreaking death. “Mon amour, ten years without you feels like just a day, and yet each day feels like a decade…Ten years without your caress, and yet every day I feel your touch…We miss you more than we can bear, but you taught us to be strong,” she captioned a post that included a photo of her late husband. The photo rested on a piano.
