One of HBO’s hit TV shows just got some good news regarding a potential Season 2, thanks to some new updates.
What hit HBO TV show will likely get a Season 2?
According to a new report from THR on Christina Hodson being tapped to write the upcoming Batman movie The Brave and the Bold, it was noted that the hit HBO series It: Welcome to Derry, will be getting a second season. THR notes that a second season “is now in the works,” even if it has not been officially greenlit by HBO as of yet.
It: Welcome to Derry premiered in October 2025, and was a big hit for HBO. The series received a ton of praise for much of its production value and acting. The series saw Bill Skarsgård reprise his role as Pennywise, and also starred Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Matilda Lawler, Amanda Christine, Clara Stack, Blake Cameron James, and more.
“Set in the world of Stephen King’s It universe, Welcome to Derry is based on King’s It novel,” the series’ current description reads. “It expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films It and It Chapter Two.”
Andy Muschietti, who directed It and It Chapter Two, developed Welcome to Derry alongside Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. Andy Muschietti also directed four episodes in the nine-episode series.
Andy and Barbara Muschietti also serve as executive producers alongside Skarsgård, Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin. Fuchs and Kane serve as co-showrunners.
