One of AMC‘s most popular TV shows will soon be returning to screens, with the release date for Dark Winds Season 4 fast approaching. Graham Roland created the neo-Western psychological thriller series as an adaptation of Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee novel series.
Dark Winds Season 4 comes out on AMC in February
Season 4 of Dark Winds premieres on AMC on February 15, 2026. It will have eight hour-long episodes.
The series originally premiered on June 12, 2022, with Seasons 2 and 3 coming out on July 30, 2023, and March 9, 2025. In February 2025, AMC renewed the series for the fourth season before the premiere of the third. Then, in October, the network revealed the release date of Season 4.
When the fourth season was announced, Dan McDermott, the Chief Content Officer and President of AMC Studios, praised the series and teased what to expect in the upcoming episodes.
“It starts with Tony Hillerman’s unforgettable novels, cared for and attended to by a producing team that includes the likes of Robert Redford, George R. R. Martin, Chris Eyre, and our showrunner John Wirth, and — at the center of everything — the truly extraordinary Zahn McClarnon and the entire cast,” McDermott said. “Fans have embraced this series on AMC/ AMC+ and made it a top 10 show on Netflix for a solid month last fall. There is so much great storytelling yet to come in these expanded third and fourth seasons,” (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Dark Winds takes place in the Four Corners area of the American Southwest in the 1970s and predominantly revolves around three Navajo Tribal Police officers. The series’ cast includes Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn, Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, Jessica Matten as Bernadette Manuelito, and Deanna Allison as Emma Leaphorn.
Dark Winds has garnered widespread critical acclaim. All three previous seasons have received a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
