Nothing is more exciting to hear than the John Wick team is behind the upcoming Highlander reboot. That’s right y’all. All of those cool gun moves, but with cool swords instead. I can’t wait. Now, we know that the Henry Cavill starring vehicle will also have a budget of $100 million. That is a lot of sword fights.
That is an enormous budget. But one that director, Chad Stahelski is set on while searching for partners to jump aboard the production.
“We have ideas for days for the coolest characters an epic TV show.” Stahelski told the Happy Sad Confused Podcast. “I just think that’s rich mythology when you can pick any period of time, any nationality, any culture, any type of person and make them an immortal that have to duel and deal with the burden of immortality — that’s fucking cool.“
The synopsis for Highlander went like this:
When the mystical Russell Nash (Christopher Lambert) kills a man in a sword fight in a New York City parking lot, he leaves a sliver of an ancient weapon lodged in a car in the process. After brilliant forensics specialist Brenda Wyatt (Roxanne Hart) recovers evidence of the mysterious weapon, she and her partner, Lt. Frank Moran (Alan North), embark on an investigation Of Nash that will land them in the middle of a dangerous, centuries-old feud between powerful immortals.
The Highlander films and TV series were all huge properties in their time. So, a reboot is likely to bring back the popularity and following that the previous ones did. Much like John Wick being in both films, TV series and possible video games. It is possible that Highlander may end up quite a large franchise.
