Ti West’s X was a true return to the southern slasher. It delivered on plenty of blood, guts and old folks’ gross-outs too. It also delivered a post-credits scene that acted as its own teaser trailer for Pearl. It was a little confusing to see a full-blown prequel right after watching the film. But, that’s the kind of radness that West offers up.
The post-credit scene featured in early theatrical screenings had Mia Goth playing the younger version of the creepy older woman from X. Well, tomorrow we get a full trailer for Pearl and today we get this very awesome poster.
The synopsis for X went like this:
“A group of actors sets out to make an adult film in rural Texas under the noses of their reclusive hosts, but when the elderly couple catches their young guests in the act, the cast finds themselves in a desperate fight for their lives.“
As you can see from the top of the poster Pearl will reveal “the X-traordinary origin story”.
You have to love that West had this whole expanded slasher universe cooking right under our noses this whole time. It’s a welcome move considering we hadn’t seen anything from West in years. If he wants to hit us up with a one-two punch combo of X, Pearl and maybe even a third film, we are all here for it.
