A forgotten Stephen King gem continues to terrify audiences on Hulu. Rose Red, an original television story from the master of horror himself, continues a healthy showing on Hulu where fans new and old have been delighting in King’s opus of bad houses doing bad things. Check out the trailer and synopsis below!
Per Hulu: A college professor and a team of psychics investigate an old, abandoned house at the request of the man who has inherited it. Hoping to explain some of the mysterious deaths and disappearances on the property, the psychics stay in the mansion, but unleash a terrifying force that threatens to destroy them all.
Rose Red stars Nancy Travis (bad Tim Allen sitcoms), Matt Keeslar (Scream 3), and Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets). Rose Red was one of several Stephen King miniseries released in the late nineties and early aughts. Alongside the likes of Riding the Bullet, Salem’s Lot, and Storm of the Century, the television landscape at the time was Stephen King’s domain—it was his world, we were just living in it.
Fans have been no less thrilled to see Rose Red on Hulu. A formative experience for burgeoning horror fans everywhere, Rose Red has long been absent from streaming. Its arrival on Hulu is a big, big deal for millennials everywhere. Check out what they’ve had to say about Stephen King’s miniseries below:
Rose Red is not The Haunting, though curiously, King wrote the original draft of the 1999 blockbuster. After creative disagreements, he reworked his script into what would become Rose Red. Also, it has Melanie Lynskey. Come on. What could be better than that?
