Dan Stevens is a prolific scream king. The actor is quietly building a collection of genre credits that speak to a greater trend of smart career choices. He previously delighted fans via memorable turns in films like The Guest, The Rental, and Abigail. With each subsequent effort, the actor gives us even more reasons to love him.
Despite his track record for iconic output and his commendable dedication to appearing in genre fare with a certain frequency, the actor remains relatively unsung outside of the die-hard horror set. I’m talking about Apostle, a 2018 Netflix original horror film that takes a level of inspiration from the celebrated folk horror picture The Wicker Man.
Similar to one of its core points of inspiration, the film sees Stevens infiltrating a religious cult situated on an isolated European island. Fortunately, the similarities are mostly skin deep, which is likely one of the many reasons why both critics and fans who have seen the picture seem to connect with it.
