The Geek Fest Film Festival was in attendance at L.A. Comic Con and is the number one film festival for science fiction, horror, fantasy, action, fan film shorts, and web series. In their first ten years, they’ve programmed at over 75 comic cons across North America, over 6.5 million congoers have seen the GeekFest Film Fest brand on the Exhibition Floor, and tens of thousands have attended GeekFest Screenings and Panels. Distribution and Licensing opportunities for horror and science fiction content in all short categories! I couldn’t go further without injecting some horror into this article. The GeekFest Film Fest (Los Angeles Premiered) Devanny Pinn’s The Black Mass this past Saturday, and the fest also hosted a panel, “Woman in Horror,” moderated by Vera Vanguard and featuring panelists Devanny Pinn, Michelle Ramano, Sarah Nicklin, and Jackie Dallas. There was also a free signing with the cast of The Black Mass before the showing, and it was a blast. People of all ages flocked to the table to get a glimpse of some Hollywood talent!
Horror conventions and Comic Cons share some similarities, as they are both fan conventions that bring together enthusiasts of specific genres. However, they focus on different themes and elements of popular culture, resulting in some key differences. However, there is some overlap in the fanbase, which is precisely why I was able to find my footing at L.A. Comic Con. My first time attending this convention, I will now add it to my list of repeat cons I will travel to yearly; it truly has something for everyone.
After three years of a December show, L.A. Comic Con is moving in 2024 to October 4th through the 6th. Remember to mark your calendars; it will be here before you know it.
