Lioness aka Special Ops: Lioness Season 2 has dropped its finale. It proved to be a thrilling watch overloaded with a rollercoaster of emotions. While the last episode is piquing interest, fans are curious regarding another important aspect. They wish to know if the series is getting a third installment. So, will Special Ops: Lioness get canceled or renewed for Season 3
Here is everything you need to know about the future of the spy thriller series.
Is the Special Ops: Lioness Season 3 renewed or canceled by Paramount+?
As of now, Special Ops: Lioness Season 3 has not been announced by Paramount Plus.
However, fans continue to be optimistic regarding a third installment. In an interview with Vanity Fair, lead actor Zoe Saldaña who plays Joe subtly hinted at Season 3 while praising the show.
She stated, ”I wish it was the fact that I had room in my life [laughs]. I signed up for three seasons at least, and so you do have a sort of contractual obligation to fulfill, but Lioness isn’t that only. Lioness has been a journey that has given me the opportunity to collaborate with a different type of filmmaker.”
Saldana mentioned three seasons in her interview, which has raised hopes among the fans. Additionally, series usually go for a three-season deal depending on viewership. Further, actors also wish to have three seasons in contract for any show they are part of.
On the other hand, Lioness’s positive reception in terms of critical appreciation and ratings strongly hints at a third part. It currently stands at an IMDB rating of 7.7 out of 10 and a 72% audience meter on Rotten Tomatoes.
Given the release date patterns of the first two seasons, Lioness Season 3 can be released sometime by late 2025 or early 2026. However, it is up to the makers to decide on the future of the successful series.
