Fans are curious to know if Happy Gilmore 2 auditions are still on. It has been almost three decades since the popular Adam Sandler flick was released. Earlier this year, Netflix confirmed in an NY presentation, their plans for a sequel starring Sandler. As the filming begins next month, the makers recently have hosted a casting call for extras. Following this, fans are wondering if they can still participate in the Happy Gilmore 2 open casting or not.
Here is everything fans need to know about the upcoming sequel’s auditions and if they can still apply.
Have the auditions for Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2 ended?
The Happy Gilmore 2 open casting call, which was conducted on August 20, 2024, has ended. Nevertheless, New Jersey locals who couldn’t attend auditions on this date were given an alternate opportunity to apply to be an extra.
On August 1, Grant Wilfley Casting website announced an open casting call for Happy Gilmore 2. Their requirements consisted of individuals from solely the New Jersey area to play extras in the upcoming Adam Sandler movie. Individuals with no acting experience were welcome to attend the August 20 auditions between 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This was a paid opportunity, wherein Non-SAG actors would receive $176 per 10 work hours and SAG-AFTRA members $216 per 8 hours.
Interestingly, this open casting received massive responses from actors, who came out in huge numbers at Hyatt Regency Morristown. The hotel also shared an Instagram video of a massive queue around the venue. In it, people were eagerly waiting to give a shot at becoming an extra in the movie. Moreover, the video’s caption read that the casting team only took 1500 people upstairs out of a huge crowd still waiting for their chance.
The GWCI website also published two alternate casting call options, specifically, for those who missed out on the August 20 auditions. The first option is that NJ locals can register with the website and create their profiles. They should keep on the notifications for posts about the casting opportunities and shooting dates. Individuals must select the New Jersey area in the employment area option and further select counties.
The second option is to forward the necessary details to the given email address, i.e., [email protected]. Applicants can write the subject line as “NJ Local” and send details. This includes their name, phone number, preferred counties, age, photo, as well as if they are SAG-AFTRA members or not.
