Starz has revealed the Season 2 premiere date for one of its hit true-crime series and released a new trailer ahead of its return. The upcoming episodes promise new insights and exclusive interviews tied to a notorious criminal empire.
The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast Season 2 releases trailer, sets premiere date
Starz announced that The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast Season 2 will premiere on January 16, 2026. The network will release the six-episode season weekly on Fridays through the Starz app and its streaming and on-demand platforms. Starz also released the trailer for Season 2.
The new season presents an exclusive interview with BMF co-founder Terry Lee “Southwest Tee” Flenory. It highlights his role as the operation’s mastermind and his strong bond with his brother Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory. The season also shows how power struggles, paranoia, and law enforcement pressure eventually drove them apart.
The documentary traces the rise and fall of the Black Mafia Family, the drug empire the Flenory brothers created. It follows their journey from Detroit’s streets to national notoriety. The series examines loyalty, betrayal, and the lasting effects of their decisions.
Starz ordered the documentary in 2021 to accompany its scripted BMF drama series. That show ran for four seasons and ended with Detective Von Bryant (Steve Harris) arresting Big Meech (Demetrius Flenory Jr.), leaving the story on a cliffhanger.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, executive producer of both the docuseries and scripted series, addressed cancellation rumors in an interview with Deadline. “BMF was already slightly declining [in ratings] before the last season started, and they made some creative choices that were, from my perspective, not good choices,” said Jackson. “I know people feel like I turned it off… the networks would have continued to move forward with the show if it was doing the numbers it had been doing.”
Jackson has shown ongoing interest in expanding the BMF universe through spinoffs. He also executive produces the Power franchise, which includes Ghost, Raising Kanan, Force, and the upcoming prequel Origins.
