Christian Wallace, co-creator of Landman, offered new insight into what fans can expect from the upcoming third season of the Paramount+ series. Speaking ahead of production, Wallace teased a major “reset” in the storyline, hinting at new dynamics and shifts for several key characters.
Christian Wallace hints at major ‘reset’ in Landman Season 3
Christian Wallace, co-creator of Landman, confirmed that season three will mark a major reset for the series. “It’s kind of a reset,” Wallace told The Hollywood Reporter. “We have these characters entering into different dynamics with one another… It’s now family-run, very small, starting from almost scratch.” Following his firing from M-Tex Oil by Cami (Demi Moore), Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) forms CTT Oil with his son Cooper and grandfather T.L. and strikes a risky partnership with cartel boss Gallino.
Wallace emphasized that the direction of season three remains in the hands of Taylor Sheridan. “At the end of the day, it is Taylor’s plan and we’re all just waiting on what he decides to do,” he said, adding that production is set to resume in May and they are in a working groove. “We’re in a groove… the rhythm we’re in right now works really well,” Wallace said, although he acknowledged challenges due to the extreme Texas heat during filming.
Regarding the season two finale, Wallace addressed the danger Tommy faces from Gallino. He noted that Gallino threatens to take what Tommy loves most if their deal fails. Wallace stated, “Tommy knows it better than anybody… these are not idle threats.” He also spoke about Tommy’s development: “We’ve seen him grow a lot… Now he’s kind of going back to the roulette wheel and betting on himself.”
On Cami’s return, Wallace noted, “That one is above my pay grade.” For filming the finale, including Tommy’s coyote encounter, Wallace said it symbolized that Tommy has “absorbed the lessons from T.L.” Wallace confirmed the return of Sam Elliott and that the show’s compressed timeline will likely continue. “It feels right for this story, and we’ll continue to operate within that format we’ve established.”
