The recently-released Platform 2 has left many fans divided with its open ending. The Spanish movie premiered on Netflix on Friday, five years after the release of its predecessor. Platform 2 effectively builds upon the premise of the original film by introducing a new conflict among prisoners this time around. With much left to convey in the tale of the Vertical Self-Management Center, fans are curious if Platform 2 possesses any end, mid, or post-credits scenes.
Here are all the available details regarding the much-discussed credit sequences in the Platform sequel.
Does The Platform 2 have an end, mid or post-credits scene?
Yes, The Platform 2 indeed has a mid-credits scene that pops up right after the movie’s conclusion.
Following its completion, however, the film proceeds to roll the remaining credits without showcasing any additional footage. As such, the mid-credits sequence serves as a fitting epilogue to the sequel while simultaneously establishing the setup for a follow-up installment.
The Platform 2’s mid-credits scene Explained
The mid-credits scene in Platform 2 reveals the descent of several of the remaining inmates to the prison’s bottom. The sequence also showcases how all the said convicts are accompanied by different children.
The culminating scene hints at the deteriorating state of the prison that enables the constant suffering of its residents. Nevertheless, even in such desperate conditions, a handful of inmates continue their journey toward redemption by seemingly rescuing the children stationed in Level 333. The sequence also confirms the Authority’s notorious act of replenishing Level 333 with a new kid each month.
Meanwhile, many have hypothesized another viable meaning to the aforementioned scene. A raging theory suggests that the mid-credits snippet instead proves the existence of similar vertical prisons elsewhere. Interestingly, director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia seems to have confirmed this idea during his recent interview with Collider. On being asked if there are other such facilities in his Platform universe, Gaztelu-Urrutia stated, “Many and in many different ways.”
At the time of writing, there is no news on the development of a third entry in the film series. Netflix is expected to greenlight a Platform threequel provided that the second film racks up convincing numbers on the streaming service.
