Josh Brolin shares how he almost got into fight with Denzel Washington
The No Country for Old Man star recently disclosed a heated moment that occurred on the set of American Gangster between him and Denzel Washington.
During a chat with Graham Bensinger, Josh Brolin recounted a scene where his character from the movie, Detective Trupo, and Washington’s character Frank Lucas are having a conversation. However, the actor stated that he was finding it difficult to remember his line as Washington made a change to it at the last moment.
Brolin told Bensinger, “I was trying to remember the structure, and then we rehearsed. It wasn’t that many lines, mostly mine. And I’m supposed to be super confident. I forgot a line. I put my hand on his (Denzel Washington) shoulder, and I said, ‘What’s the line?’ And he hit my hand off, and he said, ‘Don’t ever f***ing put your hand on me.’ And I was like, ‘Holy s**t, I’m gonna scrap with Denzel Washington. This is crazy.’ We’re not actors anymore … at least in my mind.”
Josh Brolin disclosed that Denzel Washington was deeply engrossed in his character Lucas. He further asserted that after filming the shot, he approached The Equalizer star to ask if he was okay. However, the duo didn’t have any conversation regarding the moment. Brolin further added that he and Washington are good friends, and stated, “Denzel and I, by the way, get along very well now.”
