David Cronenberg’s latest movie hits Hulu this week.
Starting on Monday, October 31, streaming service subscribers can watch Crimes of the Future. Set in a not-so-distant future, the film is written and directed by Cronenberg (The Fly, Maps to the Stars). It stars Viggo Mortensen, Kristen Stewart, Léa Seydoux, Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar, Lihi Kornowski, Tanaya Beatty, Nadia Litz, Yorgos Karamichos, and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos.
“In the film, as the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations,” reads the synopsis. “With his partner Caprice, Saul Tenser, celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin, an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed… Their mission – to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.”
The film marks Cronenberg and Mortensen’s third collab, after working together on the acclaimed A History of Violence and Eastern Promises. Production took place in Athens, Greece.
