Flex X Cop Episode 7: Jin Yi-Soo starts to remember his past
The latest Flex X Cop episode 7 picked up with the team investigating a new case – the murder of an IT company CEO, Choi Seonu. They discovered that he had a phone in his hand and died in the office where he founded the business. Both Yi-Soo and Kang-Hyun informed the CEO’s wife, who broke down. She further revealed that he suffered from mental health issues and told her that someone was trying to kill him. When the duo checked the autopsy, they realized that he’d passed away due to dehydration.
However, they felt it was weird, considering there were filled water bottles in the office where the CEO passed away. Later that night, Yi-Soo and Kang-Hyun discussed the case when the latter’s mother spotted the two together. She believed the two liked each other, but Kang-Hyun quickly dismissed her mother’s thoughts. The following morning, Kang-Hyun’s mother kept smiling at Yi-Soo. Fellow team member Joon-Young brought the black box camera footage, which saw Choi Seonu in a heated argument with employee Cho Sang-Gu.
The youngest team member, Choi Kyung-Jin, revealed that Seonu last spoke to a renowned psychiatrist, Seo Yuk-Yung. While Joon-Young and Kyung-Jin visited the CEO’s office, Yi-Soo and Kang-Hyun met with the psychiatrist. In the psychiatrist’s office, Yi-Soo saw a snow globe similar to the one he had in his house beside his mother’s photo. Seo Yuk-Yung revealed that Choi Seonu suffered from panic disorder and had previously called her in panic, thinking that someone was about to kill him. She also posited that Choi Seonu might have died from a seizure due to dehydration.
While returning to the department, Kang-Hyun felt that the psychiatrist knew Yi-Soo, but the latter dismissed the thought soon. Meanwhile, Joon-Young and Kyung-Jin discovered that the company was in a bad situation, so the CEO used company funds to invest in coins. When he failed to make money, Choi Song-Gu charged him with embezzlement. When they went to meet Sang-Gu, he’d already passed away.
After Yi-Soo and Kang-Hyun joined them, the autopsy revealed that he’d been struck from the back. Moreover, they also saw a bag full of money. They discovered that the bag had chaebol heiress Hong Euna’s fingerprints. It turns out that she was Yi-Soo’s ex-girlfriend. Meanwhile, he went to meet her to uncover the case further. Eun-Na revealed that Sang-Gu blackmailed her when she went to psychiatrist Seo Yuk-Yung. So she went to give him money.
Meanwhile, Yi-Soo’s brother, Jin Seung-Joo, invited him for a family interview. Although the latter’s mother expressed her disapproval of having Yi-Soo join them, he attended the interview. He patiently answered questions about his cases, which made his father and Hansu Group chairman, Jin Myung-Chul, even more popular. The latter gained more popularity compared to his competitor ahead of the elections.
While reaching home, Yi-Soo met with Kang-Hyun, who asked him about his meeting with Hong Euna. Before he could speak further, Kang-Hyun’s mother called him in for dinner. Although the dinner was extremely salty, Yi-Soo felt warm having a home cooked meal in a long time. He even told Kang-Hyun’s mother about his mother passing away when he was young. After reaching home, Yi-Soo had the same dream where he stood in front of a painting.
The following day, Kang-Hyun noticed that Yi-Soo was quiet as they visited psychiatrist Seo Yuk-Yung. Although they couldn’t find what they were looking for, Yi-Soo spoke to the professional about his recurring dream. Seo Yuk-Yung told Yi-Soo that his unconscious mind was about to tell him something. He grew even more concerned about his dream. After they left, the psychiatrist messaged Yi-Soo’s father, Jin Myung-Chul, that his son began remembering his past memories. This left Myung-Chul concerned.
Meanwhile, a reporter met with Kang-Hyun’s mother while looking for Yi-Soo’s house. He was trying to dig into Yi-Soo’s mother’s death ahead of Myung-Chul appearing in the elections. On reaching Yi-Soo’s house, the reporter met with Kang-Hyun’s father Lee Hyung-Joon, who was in charge of the case when he was in the force. Hyung-Joon declined to divulge any information about the case to the reporter.
The team in the department discovered text messages between Choi Seonu and Cho Sang-Gu talking about a missing USB. When they went to the latter’s apartment, an unknown man attacked Yi-Soo. In order to catch the culprit, Yi-Soo jumped from the building. After they sent the man to the police station, Kang-Hyun grew angry with Yi-Soo for risking his life.
Once they returned to the office, Kang-Hyun received a call from her mother about a reporter looking for Yi-Soo’s whereabouts. She informed Kang-Hyun of the reporter digging into his mother’s case. Kang-Hyun then looked up police records of the case when she found out that her father was in charge. Apparently, Yi-Soo’s mother allegedly killed herself in the bathtub of the house when he was seven years old. Kang-Hyun grew emotional once she learned about Yi-Soo’s past.
