Mission: Impossible icon Tom Cruise was recently interviewed by South Korean pop star BTS’ Jin, where they discussed a plethora of topics related to both of their careers. During this interview, Cruise admitted that he was a fan of Jin and BTS‘ work in the music industry.

Tom Cruise meets BTS’ Jin in South Korea
Tom Cruise had arrived in South Korea as part of his promotional tour for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. During this time, he appeared for an interview with Jin, uploaded on BTS’ official YouTube channel.
Jin kicked off the interview by asking the 62-year-old Hollywood legend if he knew BTS. “Yes! I know BTS… I know BTS,” Cruise replied while laughing. “We all know BTS.”
This elicited an excited response from Jin, who said, “Guys, Tom Cruise knows us!” Cruise then congratulated Jin for his and BTS’ successful career, telling him that what they created was “very impressive” and that he was “a big fan.”
“I’m very happy to be here, to be on your show right now,” Cruise added.

The Astronaut hitmaker then revealed that the first movie he saw after turning 15 was Cruise’s Mission: Impossible and that the film left a lasting impression on him.
The two then discussed various topics pertaining to the Jerry Maguire star’s experiences with South Korea. Cruise expressed his love for Korean people, food, movies, and music, particularly highlighting his fondness for Korean barbecue chicken and noting how Koreans made “great films.”
Jin then asked Cruise if he had ever had the Korean dish Samgyeopsal. Cruise replied that he did, calling it “fantastic.”
Cruise then asked Jin what the latter’s favorite food was. Jin, who enjoyed spicy food, named mulhoe — a local dish that combines raw fish slices, vegetables, and seafood in a spicy gochujang cold broth. Jin then recommended that Cruise try the dish before leaving Korea.
The two then discussed the stunt work for The Final Reckoning. Cruise highlighted the wind-walking scene, noting that it hadn’t been done before.
“The wind is so hard that when you step out of the cockpit, it hits you so hard that it’s hard to breathe,” Cruise added. “… I had to change my whole training regime.”
Additionally, Jin and Tom Cruise made a video call to the former’s mother, off-camera.
