Set in New York in the ’80s, Netflix’s Eric revolves around a puppeteer named Vincent Anderson. After his son Edgar goes missing, Vincent gradually distances himself from the people around him and starts to lose his grasp on reality. He creates a puppet from his son’s drawings and names it Eric, hoping it will help him find his way to Edgar. The series premiered on May 30, 2024. If you want to know whether there will be a Season 2 of Eric, this is what we have learned.
Here’s all we know about Eric Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there an Eric Season 2 release date?
There is no Eric Season 2 release date as the show was developed as a miniseries.
Netflix has officially labeled Eric as a limited series, so a second season is unlikely. Over the years, Netflix has turned some of its well-received limited series into multi-seasonal projects, but that will probably not happen with Eric. The psychological thriller series takes place in the ’80s and tells a specific story about a father’s search for his missing son. Without stretching out the narrative, there is probably no cohesive way to continue this story beyond one season. Additionally, given the series title, it can’t be turned into an anthology project. So, it’s safe to speculate that Eric will end after one season.
Eric’s cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, and Dan Fogler.
Why Eric Season 2 might not be happening
Eric Season 2 probably isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, series creator Abi Morgan, developed it as a limited series.
ComingSoon will provide an update if circumstances change, and Netflix announces the sophomore season of Eric.
The official synopsis for Eric reads:
“A desperate father battles his demons on the vibrant, dangerous, and intoxicating streets of ’80s New York in a race to bring home his missing son.”
