The BeyHive are going to be pushed to new limits of the Mute Challenge as Beyoncé has is bringing her “Renaissance World Tour” to AMC theaters this winter. A concert film chronicling her record-breaking 2023 tour is set to premiere on December 1st, 2023. Tickets are are now on sale. Watch the official trailer below.
According to Variety, the theatrical release will present a project that Beyoncé has been “developing for years” with performance footage from the tour’s two-and-a-half hour show along with behind-the-scenes material from the making of her Grammy-winning 2022 album Renaissance and its accompanying global trek. The film will also include elements from the album’s long-rumored visual counterpart.
Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé will arrive on December 1st, nearly two months after the theater chains’ record-smashing presentation of Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film on October 13th. It has not yet been confirmed how many screens Bey’s movie will occupy, but given the competitive gross between the “Eras” and “Renaissance” tours in 2023, it would be no surprise if the latter follows Swift’s massive worldwide debut in over 100 countries.
There has also been no clarity given on which shows or segments from the “Renaissance World Tour” will be showcased in the film, though there have been plenty of highlights including Beyoncé’s birthday show featuring Diana Ross and Kendrick Lamar to her tribute to the late Tina Turner to the numerous Blue Ivy appearances. Beyoncé has already set the standard high for concert films, holding the Grammy record for most nominations in the Best Music Film category at five. She won once in 2020 for Homecoming, the Netflix-distributed feature centered on her 2018 headlining Coachella performances, which also ranked second on our list of the 25 Best Concert Films of All Time.
