The Hives have shared a mashup of ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’ and Chappell Roan‘s ‘Hot To Go’ – listen below.
The Swedish indie rock outfit paired their 2000 ‘Veni Vidi Vicious’ track with Roan’s imminently danceable ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess‘ number, layering her vocals alongside their iconic guitar.
Shared on X/Twitter yesterday (February 3), they spliced videos of Roan’s record-breaking Lollapalooza set with clips of themselves performing, much to the delight of fans, who dubbed it the “collab of the century” and joked that a better title, namely ‘Hate To Say I’m HOT TO GO’, was “RIGHT THERE” for them to use – check out the video below.

In 2023, The Hives shared ‘The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons’, marking their first new music after an 11-year hiatus, which they later followed up with a music video for their single ‘Rigor Mortis Radio’.
The Filip Nilsson-directed video followed the band wrapping up a whole list of summer tour dates, acting as support for the Foo Fighters as they embarked on their North American tour.
Prior to that, they also kicked off their UK and Ireland tour, and spoke to NME about their latest LP. During the interview, lead singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist called the Arctic Monkeys “the only good really popular band.”
“We toured with them in South America about 10 years ago and had a great time, so I’m really happy they wanted us back,” he said. “It’s a really great tour to be on; it’s really fun. I think Arctic Monkeys are fucking amazing. They’re the only good really popular band – and that’s not easy to do.”
Meanwhile, Roan’s enduring popularity has earned her Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammys. At the LA ceremony on Sunday (February 2) the former NME Cover star used her speech to take aim at record labels by talking about her past experience as a struggling new artist.
Elsewhere in the evening, the ‘Good Luck Babe!’ singer also spoke out in support of the trans community on the red carpet.
Seemingly drawing reference to Donald Trump‘s introduction of a “two gender” policy she said: “It’s brutal right now, but trans people have always existed, and they will forever exist. And they will never, no matter what happens, take trans joy away, and that has to be protected more than anything because I would not be here without trans girls.”
