Beyoncé made a speech at Vice President Kamala Harris’ Rally on Reproductive Rights last night (October 25).
The rally took place in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston, Texas and saw the singer come out in support of the Democratic candidate alongside her mother Tina Knowles and her former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland.
Following the state’s near-complete ban on abortion access, as a result of the overturn of Roe v. Wade, the event focussed on abortion and reproductive rights ahead of the election on November 5.
“H-Town,” Beyoncé began, “we are so happy to be standing on this stage as proud, country, Texas women.” She continued: “I’m not here as a celebrity; I’m not here as a politician; I’m here as a mother. A mother who cares—deeply—about the world my children and all of our children live in. A world where we have the freedom to control our bodies. A world where we’re not divided: our past, our present, our future merge to meet us here.”
“Imagine our daughters growing up seeing what’s possible with no ceilings, no limitations. Imagine our grandmothers, imagine what they feel right now. those who have lived to see this historic day. Even those who are no longer physically with us – imagine all of their sacrifice, the sacrifices made so we can witness the strength of a woman standing in her power, reimagining what leadership is.”
“We must vote, and we need you,” she continued. “Your voice has power and magnitude, your vote is one of the most valuable tools and we need you. your freedom is your god-given right. Your human right.”

.@KELLYROWLAND: We are grabbing back the pen from those who are trying to write an American story that would deny the right for women to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today that means grabbing that pen and casting my vote for Kamala Harris pic.twitter.com/5KfJTLmlxm

Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish have previously endorsed Harris specifically for her stance on reproductive rights, with the latter approving her song ‘When the Party’s Over’ for a Democrat’s Ad on reproductive care.
Prior to last night’s rally, Beyoncé personally approved of Harris’ use of ‘Freedom’, from her 2016 album ‘Lemonade’ as the official anthem for her presidential campaign.
Other famous faces that are backing Harris include Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Megan Thee Stallion, P!nk, Bon Iver, Quavo and Finneas.
