Damiano David has released his uplifting and spirited new single, ‘Born With A Broken Heart’ – you can listen to it below.
Today (October 25), the Måneskin frontman offers fans the second taste of his upcoming solo record, which has yet to receive a release date. ‘Born With A Broken Heart’ blends together feel-good rock and anthemic chord progressions with poignant and emotional lyrics drawn from a deeply personal and dark time in the singer’s life.
David sings on the song’s catchy chorus: “What if I said I’m trying / To save your love from dying / Baby I’m too far gone / Don’t want to see you crying / But I just know who I am / Maybe that’s the hardest part / Baby you can’t fix me / I was born with a broken heart”.

David said of the new song in a press statement: “When I wrote this song I was getting out of a very dark place, I was feeling emotionless and I was afraid that I had lost my ability to feel things, either good or bad. This was happening while I was starting the most meaningful relationship of my life and the fear of not being capable or ready was big.”
“I think the song was a way to make myself make sense of what I was feeling and look at it from a less scary prospective,” he continued. “I’m happy to say that today I don’t feel like this but I think a lot of people can relate with the feeling of not being good enough.”
An accompanying music video for the newly released single is due for release later today (October 25), at 12pm BST.
‘Born With A Broken Heart’ follows the bold and theatrical piano-led ballad ‘Silverlines’, which Damiano released in late September as his solo debut.
Speaking to NME in September about his solo project, David shared of his upcoming debut album: “It’s going to be very excessive, very dramatic, very theatrical, I would say. It’s definitely more personal. It’s about the drama of being alive; especially under the circumstances.”
However, David was also sure to make it clear that just because the members of Måneskin are currently exploring solo careers, it doesn’t mean the band’s come to and end: “We’re in training to get back different, better and harder.”
