Orlando local Bob Green has brought storytelling to the classic sound of alternative country rock. In his new album, Silver Screams for Silent Screens he brings the energy to his sound. With passionate and strong vocals he tells a love story of longing.
Bob Green is a true story of doing what you love without conforming to fit certain narrow passageways. Green believes that music should not have to be defined by certain specific genres but rather fit however they feel. This is evident in his album. He bridges genres like rock, alternative and soulful, with hints of country and indie. It is a whole new sound that may not fit directly into a box but it is unique and beautiful in its own way.
This album is filled with very upbeat, quick tempo music that makes you want to dance. It is one head bopper after another. His vocals are also incredible and the production of the tracks is very fun to listen to. With listening to the lyrics too, you can feel the story behind his love of someone and wanting to make sure he keeps them and yet having this innate fear of losing them.
The whole sound of the album and even his voice has a very nostalgic feel to it. You can feel his emotions throughout as he takes us on a journey. A personal favorite song would be Run. The fourth song on the album is more of a slower rock ballad in which you can sense the emotion that went into making it. What drew me to this one in particular was that it is kind of different from the rest. It really shows off Green’s impressive range.
Another very interesting part of the album was his song, Pirate’s Life. The sixth song brings a rock alternative vibe to a classic tune with embellishments of his own take on the song. It is a very original and fun listen. It is very interesting how all the songs have their own unique sound but somehow still all fit together to form this excellent album.
Music is an art, and as we have seen with artists throughout history, every one of them has unique characteristics and techniques that let you know exactly whose it is. The same is true for music, you shouldn’t worry about pigeonholing yourself into a specific genre and Bob Green shows us you don’t need to in order to make great music.
Bob Green has brought much talent to this third album of his. His sound is very classic and this album brings a whole new meaning to alternative, americana, soul music. These seven songs truly bring a fun and upbeat vibe that everyone should give a listen to.
