Wolf Alice share playlist of influences on new material as they tease new single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’

Wolf Alice has shared a playlist of influences for their new material, which features tracks by David Bowie, The Chemical Brothers, Carole King, Kate Bush, HAIM, The Beatles and more.

This comes as they tease new single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, and have dropped a huge hint that a new album could be on the way. The band have signalled that they are about to kick off a new era by sharing a potential preview of an unreleased song, along with lyrics.

The 45-track-long playlist, which was made by Wolf Alice on Spotify and then shared on the band’s official X account, also features tracks such as ‘Plastic Jesus’ by Tia Blake, ‘Should I B’ by Lil Yachty, ‘That’s All For Everyone’ by Fleetwood Mac and ‘Fallen Fruit’ by Lorde.

Its title is four sunflower emojis, and it has been saved over 2000 times at the time of writing (April 24).

The sunflower emojis are a continuation of the floral theme the band have been using throughout all their recent hints of new music. On April 16, they revamped their official social media channels, launching a new logo and directing fans to their website. Upon clicking the link, users are asked to input a password.

It takes you to a site named ‘Bloom – Wolf Alice’.  Beneath the fresh black-and-gold band logo is the phrase: “Every flower needs to neighbour with the dirt.”

After submitting their email addresses, fans were then sent an email with the subject ‘Bloom’.

It contains what appears to be a lyric sheet, beginning with the lines: “Do I have to make you, sit on your hands/ Fucking baby, baby man/ Do you want me to show you, who I am/ See this fire in my eyes boy/ That’s your flash in the pan.”

The handwritten note also features the previously-shared lyric: “Every flower needs to neighbour with the dirt.” Another line reads: “But I’ll bloom baby bloom/ Watch me and you’ll see just what I’m worth.”

Elsewhere, frontwoman Ellie Rowsell continued the floral theme by sharing numerous photographs of flowers on her personal Instagram. Bassist Theo Ellis, meanwhile, posted a single flower emoji on X/Twitter.

Speculation about new music from Wolf Alice began when they were announced as part of the line-up for Glastonbury 2025. They will also appear at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool next month.

Back in 2022, Wolf Alice earned multiple NME Award nominations, including Best Album By A UK Artist and Best Album In The World for ‘Blue Weekend’. They also won the Best Festival Headliner.
