Bethenny Frankel is chiming in on the battle between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
As we’ve been following, the embattled rapper has threatened to launch a “war” against the SKIMS founder over the trademark she owns for daughter North West’s name. See, Kim pretty reasonably tried to block him from releasing a song featuring the 11-year-old… and also accused rapist Diddy! Yes, a man accused of misconduct with minors. So icky…
So, the Real Housewives of New York City alum, who went through “a horrific, decade-long divorce on a two-year marriage” with ex-husband Jason Hoppy, feels qualified as an “expert” to offer Kim some advice. What are her qualifications? Well, she “got primary custody and no child support that I had to pay.”
While chopping fruit in an Instagram vid on Sunday, the 54-year-old explained:
“The media is focused on who owns the trademark of North West because she’s been featured on a Kanye/Diddy song, which is alarming at best. Kim is texting Kanye, who is not a rational person, and she’s texting him as if he’s a rational person. She should not be speaking to him at all. She should be speaking to him by proxy. Someone else should be the one interacting with him because, again, he’s not rational. He’s sharing her texts, and that’s a violation.”
As we’ve covered, Kanye posted a screenshot of a text exchange between him and Kim over the weekend relating to the matter. The reality star continued:
“People are focusing on the trademark when it’s about the decision making. She, presumably, or will have decision making, and that’s so important in a divorce because people always focus on the custody time, as they were focused earlier in their divorce. What’s most critical is decision making because god forbid something happens that’s medical with the kids, or education, or something important, religion, big ticket items. You need a sane, rational, non punitive party to be making those decisions. And if Kim had his decision making, then it’s irrelevant whether or not she has the trademark for her daughter because a best interest of the child matters. A judge doesn’t care about trademarks as much. That’s a business lawyer — a judge that focuses on custody matters is always focused on what is in the best interest of the child.”
That is a very important point… Someone needs to look out for the best interest of those children, and it’s clearly not Kanye. TMZ reported on Monday that the exes currently have joint control over decision making for the four children, including North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, but that Kim is considering vying for full control amid the disgraced rapper’s recent behavior.
