Cher’s new book, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, was released last week, and in it, the icon recalls the first time she had sex at 14 years old.
In the memoir, Cher writes that her first sexual encounter as a teen was pretty underwhelming, and that she’d only gone through with it as a way of getting back at a boy in her neighborhood.
Notably, Cher recalls one painful occasion when her boyfriend cruelly “ditched” her after one of his friends mockingly pointed to her and asked if he was going to bring “that kid” on a group outing to a restaurant.
“I was so hurt when he did that,” she recalls, revealing that the incident prompted her to have “revenge sex with him.”
Cher said having sex for the first time turned out to be “a massively overrated experience” and that when it came to an end, she quickly asked the boy to leave.
The other concern on Cher’s mind at this time was her mother, who she believed would instantly be able to detect that she’d had sex.
And though her mom wasn’t in the know, Cher recalls quickly sharing the news with her girlfriends, who she says spent a lot of time talking about “fooling around with boys” without having had sex themselves.
