Blanchard rose to fame after she was found guilty in 2016 of aiding her ex-boyfriend in killing her mother. Blanchard’s mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, was believed to have Munchausen syndrome by proxy, also known as factitious disorder imposed on another, is a psychological disorder in which a parent or caregiver makes up or causes an illness or injury to their child.
Right before the end of 2023, Blanchard was released from prison and her post-prison life has been documented on a Lifetime reality series. While Blanchard was in prison, she married Ryan Anderson, but shortly after she was released, they broke up and she got back together with Urker, who she was briefly engaged to while in prison.
She said she and Urker both grew up in broken homes — she was estranged from her father most of her life, and Urker’s parents divorced, but they agreed that they don’t want their child to be in that kind of situation.
“It doesn’t matter what we go through, him and I,” Blanchard said about her and Ken. “Whatever we face, we’ll face it together because we have a baby now. We have something that’s bigger than either one of us, so whatever comes our way, whatever arguments we have, whatever drama gets thrown at us on social media, we’re going to stick together. We’re not breaking because we are a family now.”
