Inside The Shannen Doherty Estate Battle With Her Ex-Husband – Still Going Two Years After Her Death!

It has been two years since Shannen Doherty passed away after a years-long battle with breast cancer, and her ex-husband is STILL fighting with her estate!

Perezcious readers may recall that shortly after the 53-year-old actress died, it came out that she managed to settle her divorce with Kurt Iswarienko in her final hours. The 50-year-old reportedly signed the divorce papers on July 13 — the same day that Shannen succumbed to her cancer battle. A judge then approved it the following Monday. The former couple agreed that Shannen would get their marital home in Malibu, along with all the art, furniture, and other furnishings inside. She also got to keep a few cars and a Salvador Dali painting, among other things. But the biggest win? The Charmed alum received the rights to Kurt’s photography business, including half of the licensing fees from the sale of photos or videos taken when they were married, beginning in 2011. She also banned him from “exploiting” her image after her death.

According to Us Weekly, however, Kurt doesn’t think the court should be able to enforce the agreement due to the timing of the divorce deal! Remember, it was a very real fear that the photographer would fight to throw out the divorce settlement and inherit the estate since he signed the papers on the same day of her death. As attorney Morghan Richardson previously explained to The Us Sun:

“What I thought was interesting is that I had read that he signed it on the same day that she died. […] So to me, if I were his attorneys, I would be looking into, did he sign it after she died? […] Is there a way to open that agreement back up and question, was it valid? […] Because it was signed, but maybe when one party had already been deceased?”

Now, the estate, it seems, is having an issue with Kurt upholding his end of the deal. Us Weekly reported that Shannen’s estate claimed he failed to comply with the terms of the divorce agreement. According to the estate, Kurt was required as part of the deal to list a $1.5 million home in Dripping Springs, Texas. However, a petition the estate filed alleged he had not done so yet, and they believe they are owed a cut of the home.

The paperwork further accused Kurt of not turning over a list of his artwork and returning property owned by the Beverly Hills, 90210 star. The estate also noted he was supposed to pay them a cut of certain photographs in his collection. As the agreement stated:

“[Doherty] shall receive one-half of all licensing/syndication fees that [Iswarienko] receives from any and all works as used herein means all photographs, images, and graphics, including still photographs, panoramic images, video recordings, and virtual tours, taken or created by [Iswarienko], and any derivative works of such photographs or other images, intended to be licensed, exhibited, distributed or otherwise released to any individual … created by [Iswarienko] during the parties’ marriage (October 15, 2011 through January 15, 2023).”

What’s more? Shannen’s estate claimed Kurt failed to pay the $50,274 he agreed to pay to buy out her interest in an airplane and hangar. Basically, Kurt allegedly hasn’t coughed up any of the money or followed through on certain terms of the divorce agreement.

However, Us Weekly reported that his attorney filed court documents on Wednesday claiming the allegations from the estate over the divorce settlement were brought in the wrong court. He alleged the divorce case should have been terminated the second that Shannen died. Per the documents, Kurt even thinks the deal should never have been filed in first place and that the court has no jurisdiction to enforce the terms.

Wow. This man is really going through with battling the estate over the divorce agreement after Shannen’s death. Does anyone else feel it is awful of him? Especially since she spent her final days trying so hard to protect her estate and settle this issue. What a mess…
