Lucas Bravo, who is well-known as the charming chef Gabriel in ‘Emily in Paris,’ is shedding his nice-guy image to portray a darkly seductive character. In a behind-the-scenes video released by HBO, the actor shared his tiring and surreal experience of shooting his entrance for the new series.

Bravo is shown in the video discussing the pivotal scene that was shot at the crack of dawn. “The timing was 4 am when we were shooting this,” he elaborated, giving a glimpse of the peculiar atmosphere at the location. “I had been in a room with a hundred naked extras waiting for them to get ready, and they were finally getting ready and I was about to fall asleep and they were saying, ‘oh this is your entrance scene for the show for the entire season.’.” In order to convey the character’s evil and yet attractive aura, Bravo enlisted the help of animals’ movements. “His physicality I worked with like watching videos of like snakes and anacondas,” he confessed. “I wanted him to have this floaty and safe way of floating through space.”
The clip, which was labeled “A walk of #seduction. #LucasBravo,” has instantly created a buzz among the viewers who are eager to witness the actor’s drastic change in looks and persona. The current character is a complete turnaround for the bright and romantic lead who made him popular in the first place.
People’s reactions to the teaser were not only quick but also diverse. Many fans supported his change immediately. One user pointed out his acting talent and said, “I think you could portray this villain part remarkably. I loved it. ❤️👏🔥” Another person simply commented on the change in his appearance, saying, “Dark hair is your color 😍.” Nobody missed the connection to his most famous role as one fan humorously remarked, “Our hot chef turned to villain thanks to Emily😂.”
However, the behind-the-scenes information raised some practical questions. A commentator seemed utterly baffled by the filming schedule and rather explicitly asked, “Why are they shooting at 4am?” It is undoubtedly a good point that punctuates the exhausting and unremitting nature of film production that the audience hardly gets to see. Other conversations depicted fans as being very willing to help each other in getting to know the new project better. A user asking, “What is the show about?” was quickly answered by a follower who demonstrated the fan communities’ active information dissemination.
The video is indeed a very strong reminder of the huge sacrifices that actors make to portray their characters, which is a long way from the elegant final product. For Bravo, it is a chance to display the whole range of his acting talent by swapping the delicacies of Paris for the charm of a predator. His methodical study of snake-like movement points to a villain that is calculative, slick, and dangerously attractive – all of which are in stark contrast with Gabriel’s soft character.
The new chapter in Bravo’s life is definitely a serious artistic one. The transition from being a global superstar on Netflix to a less popular but stylized project on HBO is a significant move toward complex and dramatic roles, pointing to a strategy. If the painstakingly developed physicality and the eerie, late-night filming environment are any clues, then the viewers are going to experience a shocking and terrific performance. This project follows other notable HBO releases, like the new HBO documentary on a legendary singer.

It is still a question-mark whether this ‘walk of seduction’ will grab the audience’s attention the same way as his Parisian walks did. The network is also home to edgy comedy, such as Sarah Sherman’s HBO Max special.
