It was an opportunity for Samin Nosrat, the chef and cookbook author, and the record producer Benny Blanco to work through a lovely recipe from her new cookbook, which showed their funny chemistry and culinary skills. The two whipped up a light-hearted recipe for Ricotta Lemon Pancakes that just felt downright joyful. Further, she informed everyone that her new book Good Things is already out for pre-order and is set to be released in stores on September 16th.

Samin’s kitchen is rarely ever a quiet one. But this time, the laughter and chaos went up a notch. The Salt Fat Acid Heat author collaborated with her fellow gourmand and musician Benny Blanco to trudge their way through a recipe from her soon-to-be-released cookbook, Good Things. The pair gave us this side-splitting and heartwarming video that felt more like hanging out with a couple of old friends rather than yet another cookery show.
The recipe being tackled was for Ricotta Lemon Pancakes that looked like a dream come true. Fluffy, golden, and utterly perfect in texture. Though consider the process: there are three separate bowls to clean, and you get the exercise of a workout whipping up those egg whites into stiff peaks. Blanco was somewhat joking about it when he said, “We’ve literally been here for 30 minutes. It gets easier now, I’m sure.” Conversation was so smooth: when questioning whether the egg whites were stiff enough, Nosrat joked to Blanco, “That’s what she said,” and both erupted into fits of laughter.
One more thing people noticed was the uncanny resemblance these two had to each other. “Why do we look exactly like twins?” wondered Nosrat, staring at the camera with Blanco standing next to her. The statement was true. One fan wrote, “why do we look like twins had me… 😂😂😂 the best collab,” which perfectly caps the feel of the entire clip. This is the kind of loose, genuine vibe that stormed into the clip.
Under the anticipation-brimming scene, comments about Nosrat’s new book are almost bursting. Followers are counting every day that remains until September 16th. “I can’t wait for my book to arrive!!!” shouted one user and the rest echoed the same voice. Another added, “Loved Salt, Fat, Acid, Health-so excited about this one,” truly underscoring her proven ability to really reach out to her audience through writing and in her own personality.
Besides the pancakes—and the highlight of this promo—was the sheer infectious joy that went down one line with viewers. “I love your joyful vibe,” said one. Another quarter commented: “Exactly ♥️ Like getting on here seeing people happy.” In an online world that is more often than not cloaked in forced perfection and pretense, Nosrat’s willingness to be silly, laugh loud, make a mess, and just joke along with her friend felt like a breath of fresh air.
Anna Olson gave her take too. “Wait I love this so much ❤️,” said the pro baker-from-one-kitchen-star-to-another. It wasn’t really about the recipes-far from it; the collaboration was about the shared joy of reminding everyone that food is as much about connection as it is about craft.

The video ends with Nosrat joyfully taking a bite of pancake. “This is the most exciting day of my life,” she declares. Probably a little over-the-top and funny, but more or less true. Because that’s exactly how it feels when you have delicious food, lovely company, and sincere laughter. Samin Nosrat’s Good Things is more than just a name-a prelude to the warmth and joy that she keeps on emanating.
