Zoe Saldaña, Steven Spielberg, Derek Hough, & More Celebrities Donate To The James Van Der Beek Family GoFundMe

Hollywood is rallying around the Van Der Beek family during their time of need.

As many know, James Van Der Beek died at the young age of 48 following a years-long battle with colorectal cancer. Soon after the heartbreaking announcement, his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, launched a GoFundMe to raise money for herself and her six children as they are “out of funds” due to his treatment.

Kimberly initially set the fundraiser goal at $550,000, but she increased it to $1.5 million amid the outpouring of support! And they’ve already surpassed the mark at this time! Amazing! It’s all thanks to the generous donations from many fans and even several celebrities. Derek Hough, Lydia Hearst, Ricki Lake, Kaley Cuoco, and Julie Plec are reportedly among the stars who donated to the family.

But the biggest donors? Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw donated a massive $25,000! Zoe Saldaña also made a great contribution to James’ loved ones this week, offering $2,500 per month! Wow! Documentary filmmaker and Norman Lear‘s widow, Lyn, donated $5,000 every month. Music talent manager Guy Oseary, Cameo co-founder Martin Blencowe, and Wicked director Jonathan M. Chu all gave a whopping $10,000, too.
