America’s Got Talent judges, audience members, and viewers were recently blown away by a police officer and his incredible voice during the audition phase of the season, and this audition was one that you won’t want to miss.
America’s Got Talent: Auditions Already Turning Some People Into Stars
One of the many great things about a show like America’s Got Talent is, you can walk onto the stage as a completely unknown individual, and, within two minutes, you can have people all over the world knowing who you are.
This has been exactly the case for some of the notable, standout performers early on in this audition phase of the current America’s Got Talent season. The judges are still in the middle of the grueling process of finding the real gems during this phase of the competition, and audiences are loving it.
The America’s Got Talent audition phase of the process is the first time judges and viewers get to meet the talent pool. It’s also a great time for watchers to pick their early favorites, in terms of who they want to root for over the course of the new season. For the performers, it’s also the first time for them to have exposure to a wide audience of potential fans.
Several Notable Acts Already Making Waves
Things are still early in the brand-new America’s Got Talent season. Even so, there have already been several performers who have blown people away. This includes audiences, viewers at home, and even the judging panel, with several acts already receiving the Golden Buzzer for their efforts.
Some notable acts so far include 13-year-old singer Mia Soleil Sanchez, who made jaws drop with her unique rendition of a Billie Eilish song. There have also been singers like Reid Wilson, who shocked the crowd and even got Howie Mandel to give him a Golden Buzzer.
America’s Got Talent: Police Officer Wows Judges With Incredible Performance
Mervin Mayo, a police officer from Richmond, recently stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage in full uniform. After telling a bit of his personal story, including working with at-risk youth, he broke into a soulful rendition of Ed Sheeran’s mega-hit, Thinking Out Loud.
Not only did Mervin Mayo nail it on the vocal side of things, but, he even played piano to this slower, more ballad-esque version of the song. At first, there was even a surprise factor, as many of those in the audience didn’t instantly recognize the song he chose, due to his unique arrangement.
However, once listeners started catching on, it spoke to Mervin’s unique ability to compose his performance in such a way that he completely made the song his own. Not surprisingly, it was unanimous among the judging panel to send him to the next step.
