Reportedly, ongoing discourse among a band from Maryland took a turn this past Sunday. A former member reportedly attacked the father of the band’s lead singer with their car. Following this, the band has since issued a statement as local police also shed some light on what happened.
The Singer’s Father & The Former Member Were Described As Being Neighbors In Silver Spring
According to the band, one former bandmate had made repeated threats, which turned violent this past Sunday. The ousted guitarist allegedly used a vehicle to hit the band’s lead vocalist’s father.
The victim was outside his home in Silver Spring, Maryland, during the time of the incident. According to reports, the 78-year-old was left with a fractured leg.

Reportedly, the story revolves around members of the band Turnstile, an American rock band that started in 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland. The band is currently made up of lead vocalist Brendan Yates, guitarists Pat McCrory and Meg Mills, bassist Franz Lyons, and drummer Daniel Fang, with former members including Sean Cullen and Brady Ebert.
Local police said that the violent incident took place after Ebert, with whom the band cut ties in 2022, got into an argument with his neighbor, William Yates. Notably, William is also the father of the band’s singer, Brendan Yates.
At this time, it is unclear what the argument was about. However, according to The Baltimore Banner, Ebert had been taunting them for some time. Reportedly, on Sunday, Ebert showed up to William’s home in a car, honking his horn and yelling obscenities. Surveillance footage also showed William warning his daughter and son-in-law that Ebert was around the corner.
According to police, William backed up into the driveway to avoid getting hit. However, Ebert reportedly struck him after making a sharp left with his Buick. Ebert is then believed to have left the scene.
The Band Has Since Issued Statements For Both Ebert & The Elder Yates
William waited for first responders at the scene until he was eventually taken to a local hospital. According to police, he was found to have had a broken leg. Ebert was arrested on Tuesday. He has since been charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Since the incident, the band has issued a statement with The U.S. Sun. As it read, “Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community,” noting that the band attempted “every available resource to support his access to help and recovery.”
The statement continued, “In the years since, his baseless tirades have continued in public. We never addressed it.” While originally wanting to protect Ebert’s privacy, it was shared that “his threats only escalated further.”
After discussing the recent incident, noting the “physical trauma” inflicted on “Mr. Yates,” the band noted, “We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.” It was added, “We have no language left for Brady.”
