Julie Chrisley Reacts To Savannah On The Masked Singer
The Masked Singer Week 2, saw Afghan Hound come out and perform “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by The Tokens. She ended up going head-to-head with Gumball in the Smackdown. They performed “Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead” from The Wizard of Oz. By the end, fans voted for Gumball to move on. Afghan Hound then took off her mask to reveal Savannah Chrisley, star of Chrisley Knows Best.
When interviewed after the show, Savannah said her mother, Julie Chrisley, watched the performance live from prison. Savannah’s parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted of financial fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. They are both serving over 23 years in prison. However, there are TVs in the prison and Julie watched her daughter’s performance.
Savannah said she went into the show, despite having “no musical abilities whatsoever.” She said the reason was that she wanted her parents to see the moment and possibly bring them some happiness during this hard time in their lives.
Savannah said that Julie Chrisley called her after the performance and was “dying, laughing.”
Savannah Chrisley Says This Made The Masked Singer Worth It
“I knew that my parents would be able to watch this. So they would get to still be a part of our journey and life. So that’s the main driving force behind me saying yes,” Savannah said (via TODAY).
According to Savannah, this made the entire performance worth it. She said her mother was laughing when they talked about it. When Savannah asked how she did, Julie laughed and said, “Oh, yeeeah, maybe don’t ever sing again.” Savannah also said her siblings laughed and said singing wasn’t for her.
“My siblings were like, ‘Don’t ever do that again,” Savannah said. “They were like, ‘Don’t do that again. That was hilarious… It made me so uncomfortable to watch. It was so bad.” Despite the comments from her mom and siblings, Savannah said she was happy to do it and is glad she took part in The Masked Singer.
She said she was proud that she had the courage to go out there and perform. She said it was uncomfortable and she knows she doesn’t have the talent to sing on that stage. But, at the end of the day, she said people shouldn’t take life so seriously. Savannah said after fighting for her parents for so long, this gave her a chance to have fun.
