NCIS is returning this fall for Season 23. The Mothership has outlived the LA, New Orleans, and Hawaii spinoffs. However, this upcoming season will be a bit of a departure from the first 22 seasons. Moreover, the network is making a major change that fans of the military procedural need to know before the premiere.
Here is the latest news about the upcoming season of the long-running CBS series.

NCIS Season 23 Includes Major Change
NCIS Season 23 will start filming in the upcoming weeks. However, this season will be a bit different. Showrunner Steven D. Binder spoke to TV Insider about what is next. Parker is going to be reacting to his father’s brutal death.
He’s going to be destabilized and he’s going to be out for revenge and out for blood in a way that will seem very atypical for someone like him, not a way you’d expect a character like him to behave and yet entirely motivated and justified.
This will end up like dominos. The team will want to “protect him.” Moreover, “It’s going to create a ton of conflict as it has in the past when we’ve had other people on our staff on fire.”
Lastly, the showrunner elaborated on what is planned for the upcoming season. “We’re really hoping to dive into our characters and their lives ant their journeys and their pain in a way that we have not done before–or have done before, but have done it more in a back burner secondary to the crime of the week. And I think seeing how Parker–the ignition on Parker is the start of that.”
That’s no small hiccup in the man’s life.

CBS Makes Major Schedule Change
NCIS fans need to know that the OG is no longer going to air on Monday nights. Instead, it will air on Tuesdays, at 8 p.m., Eastern, on CBS. Next, NCIS: Origins will air at 9 p.m., Eastern, while the Sydney spinoff will air at 10 p.m., Eastern.
In addition, NCIS: Tony & Ziva will air on Paramount+. There is currently no plan to air the new spinoff on CBS.
All seasons of the entire franchise are currently available to stream on Paramount+.
